Liam James Log by: Liam James
The Godfather (1972) is an American crime film directed by Francis Ford Coppola and based on Mario Puzo’s novel. The film chronicles the rise and operations of the powerful Corleone crime family in mid-20th-century America. Robert Duvall portrays Tom Hagen, the adopted son of Vito Corleone and the family’s consigliere (legal adviser). Hagen is depicted as calm, intelligent, and fiercely loyal, serving as a strategic mediator between the Corleones and rival factions. Duvall’s restrained and authoritative performance earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. His portrayal of Tom Hagen became one of the defining characters of the film and he reprised the role in The Godfather Part II (1974). Widely regarded as one of the greatest films ever made, The Godfather won the Academy Award for Best Picture and has been preserved in the U.S. National Film Registry for its cultural and historical significance.
